There is an issue with properly rendering the grayscale values for black granite, pottery and glass in version 3.2. We are working to resolve these issues.
While the internal processing engine is the same between the two versions the visuals will improve in the future.
We recommend purchasing version 3.1 at this time if you engrave on those 3 materials, however, there is an option to purchase either version 3.1 or 3.2.
